I am a 25 year old man from South Burgundy in France. I teach English in a school (kids aged 11 to 17). I've been vegan for the last two years after having been vegetarian for a few months. This was a difficult change having been raised in a family in which a meal is basically meat with something else because that's what people do. I hope to be able to debate on this forum and discover new things.

I think you have your work cut out for you on this issue in france (and maybe even more work to do when it comes to the avoiding-dairy-part of being vegan.)
But when it comes to other things like well funded schools that create intelligent adults, nudity, sexuality and taking care of people's health and educating young students and caring for the elderly...being in the united states, well sometimes I feel like france is so far advanced compared to the US, almost like a Space Age/Futuristic country. I feel gay people might be treated better there as well. They are at least educated better.
Like we are stuck back in time in the united states on a lot a lot of issues. I have had more than one conversation about being in the US and we have so many childish adults here! I swear to you this is a really bad problem: our country is full of childish behaving adults. We just aren't as educated as the french folk are. Not to say france doesn't have its share of A-holes.
Is it true you are taught table manners in public school there? I learned that from a documentary by Michael Moore (it was about American war policy and us being in a perpetual war mostly benefiting the corporations.) He also said there is no such thing as fast food in public schools in france (like in the USA.) Yes we serve fast food to school children, it is pretty much the dark ages in our schools. And we should feel shame Michael Moore says what we serve as a school lunch in the US. Comparing to the french, Michael moore was praising the french for spending a little more in taxes and getting way more down the line for educating children into mature adults. And feeding them actual food in school not fast food. Hopefully there is something vegan available if you wanna be in france's schools.
I hope this is happening where you are. They are not educated (we americans) on sexuality like you are in France. I wish I could go to france and see what is going on there. I have been to europe before and I think it is amazing and the people are super good looking. and welcome to the message board!!! WARNING!!! There are 50 year olds here in America with no sex education. let me put it that way. And welcome
So this video is just something this chef learned to make. This is french food that is way too indulgent & just really bad & nothing but animal products. Because we have to dispel this "magic" of french cheese being like a luxury food/high class import/and a unique one-of-a kind flavor that is worth spending extra money to experience (not that I think this but we have to dispel this kind of thing about french cheese for sure).
But french people also do amazing salads besides this, so I guess I give credit there for making amazing salads (that americans don't eat)
Michael moore actually explains that they teach drinking water during lunch in a french school; here if you didn't already see
I watched the documentary last year, thus my comments. If I remember correctly, the fat fuck gives a taste of coke to them (it may even be what can be seen in the glass in the video you link). Why the fuck would anybody want children to try something unhealthy. Maybe next thing will be for him to give them a cigarette, because why not.
"There is no hope. Knowing that humans die untimely, by the millions, simply makes me feel a bit better. If more than, say, 2000 were killed in one go, I could smile. 20000? I might throw a party..."
Oh gawd that is so funny I actually got it what you were saying. Don't bring our capitalist coke crap over seas. I have been to europe I think they have their own evil Coke factory there poisoning them (unfortunately) but I think I heard that they have better water in europe than america. (To make crappy coke out of...) At least I think I remember someone saying that to me on a trip to Europe a while back

Lomedin: Learned by chance that Kat Von D is vegan. Didn't have a clue who she was before.

Vegan: I'm on an antinatilist group and only found out about her on that. Had no idea who she was before as never heard of her.

cybernaut: Well, it can be a little hard for me to come here sometimes because of how negative things can get here. I realize there's much to be negative about, but it's still hard for me all the same.
