While I was drinking a glass of milk in my home the vegan person I had over was telling me I was drinking a whole bunch of puss with blood in it. She stated most cows have a huge puss pocket due to too much milk being taking from the cow. I don't know where she got this information and where she thought it was ok to make a gross statement while I am drinking it in my own home. She stated they handle the cows terribly and that is simply not true. I have a friend whose husband works on a dairy and he stated that they have really strick laws and that the cows and the milk gets tested very well. He states if it was that gross that he would never drink milk again and that most milk even though they say different brands they come from the same place. I think the vegan person who came over my house learned lies from PETA and the internet. She has also wanted me to see how on the internet how animals are treated. I know in this country our animals are not treated that cruel anymore. Peta and animal activist make sure that the animals are treated right.
Lmao, you've been brainwashed well. In most countries animals are treated cruely, even in the USA and UK. You clearly don't understand the reality of dairy. And yes, there is pus in milk. Dairies are legally allowed a certain amount of pus in their milk.
It turns out that standard dairy cows are medicated with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to stimulate a much higher than normal milk production. This causes severe stress that results in mastitis, an infection of the udders of sick and stressed cows. This infection is, of course, treated with antibiotics, helping to breed more antibiotic resistant organisms. It is literally unbelievable that one liter (a little over a quart) of Californian milk contained 298 million pus cells in 2003, 11 million more pus cells than it contained in 2002.
You might console yourself by saying "but milk is pasteurized. Surely the cells are cleared!" No, they are not cleared, they are only heated. So your kids drink dead pus cells. There is a slight consolation: some other states' milk contains a much higher pus cell count than California's. Alabama's has an average of 444 million cells; Nevada's has less: ‘only' 443 million; while Florida's milk has the highest count: 548 million pus cells per liter, or nearly 130 million per 8-oz glass. Even that is well below the USDA's allowable U.S. standard of 750 million pus cells per liter, above which milk must be consumed in the state in which it is produced!
Most of the top executives in the USDA come straight out of the cattle industry, and return to lucrative jobs in that industry after their stint in the USDA where they make regulatory rulings favorable to cattlemen, instead of protecting the consumers who pay their salary.
Also, mother cow's have their babies taken away within 24hrs of birth. Just so you can have that glass of milk. How is that not cruel?
Your 'friend' is a liar and only protecting the naive view of dairy farms the public has. If you truly knew about dairy, you would not support it. Plus it's not good for you. You are not a baby cow. That is what cow's milk is for. A calf.
PETA and animal activists don't control the farming industry. The fat cats do. Cheap food comes at a price. That is lack of welfare or no welfare. That is factory farming. You are living in a bubble if you think animals are treated nice in the western countries.
I know someone who is in the dairy business and he states that they HAVE to take care of the cows because they are protected. The part that a person has to worry about it how clean the trucks are that carry the milk. Who am I going to believe well the one that works there. Most milk comes from the same vendors rather it be Knudsen or Bay View. I am not against being a vegan or vegatarian however putting statements out there that in not true is wrong.
Knowing someone in a business that profits off suffering is not proof they are treated nicely. I have been on a dairy farm. You clearly haven't. Your 'friend' will lie through his teeth to protect his interests.
The truth is there in front of your face. You are choosing to ignore it. You can't just side with your friend just because you are friends. Even friends lie to each other if it is of benefit to them.
By the way if a cow was 'protected' under law it would not be used at all for milk. The cows are not protected. There are laws about welfare but they are not followed.
Would you like it if I took your newborn baby away from within a couple of hours after birth? I doubt you would. Would you like it if I took that newborn human baby and shot it in the head just because it was male? Would you like it if I took that newborn baby if it was female and fed it powdered milk even though it needs the stuff straight from the mother's breast?
Seriously, you need to do research for yourself and watch the videos I posted. They're not staged. They're the reality for cows all over the world.
Why do you think we are the only species that willingly drinks the milk of another species? Why are all over animals lactose intolerant? Why is 70% of human population lactose intolerant? Dairy is one of the most cruel forms of animal exploitation out there. Stop keeping your eyes closed and see the truth. Your ignorance is sickening. As is your denial.
Which guy? The guest section is for those with inquiring minds - meat eaters included as long as they are civil. The main forum however is vegan/those needing help to go vegan only though and if I find meat eaters signed up I will remove them.
